Review of The Goonies (1985) by Ryan V — 15 Jul 2012
Most of the folks in my age range have some nostalgia for The Goonies, a children's adventure movie that's in the same vein as the "kid gang" pictures of the 1930's. The story follows a bunch of misfit tykes who are searching for buried treaure in a spooky cavern.
They're opposed by Mama Fratelli (Anne Ramsey), and her gang of nasty outlaws. The energy in The Goonies is made palpable by the fun performances and the swift direction of Richard Donner. These factors make this film an appealing hybrid of The Little Rascals and Raiders of the Lost Ark.
