Review of The Goods: Live Hard, Sell Hard (2009) by Rachel T — 12 Dec 2009
So I thought I'd like this movie cause I was pretty much born and raised a car person. My dads had his lot for my entire life... I know the business because I've spent lot of time there these last 16 years.
This movie was funny... At some parts... But for the most part it was terrible. It wasn't realistic at all and it wasn't even funny. No one can sell 71 cars in one day with a sales team of 10 or so people.
It'd take at least 40 guys. And where were the porters (lot people)?!?! Im so sure those cars washed themselves/put stickers on thenselves/detailed themselves/moved thenselves! They didn't even line up the lot.
.. Ever. I know cars were leaving quickly, but the lot looked like crap. And they wouldn't just sell all the cars til they were all gone... It wasn't an out of business final sale (yet)! They would have ordered more cars! And the sales people on real life are.
... Funnier. This was supposed to be an exageration of then being weird. In real life,.. They are stranger (in good and bad ways). They probably wouldn't have had like 50 different kinds of pricing stickers on the windows either.
And what about the sales tags?! And don't get ne started on how the levels/positions of employees actually vary! It's not all sales people and then the owner and thts it! Some of the only funny parts were on them closing the deal.
.. It was actually remotely accurate. But for the most part, this movie was a bust.
