Review of The Goods: Live Hard, Sell Hard (2009) by Kevin D — 30 Dec 2009
If you did not pay full price to see this movie in the theaters, count yourself among the lucky. If you are thinking about renting it, rent ?Used Cars? instead. ?Used Cars? is a much better movie released in 1980 that covers the same territory. Jeremy Piven in this movie has to play a super salesman that can talk anyone into buying anything, but he just does not have the juice to pull it off. He just is not believable in the role. This is evident in an early scene where he has to give a rousing speech in front of a cheering crowd that convinces a flight attendant to let him smoke on an airplane. The rest of the film is plagued by ?over acting" that reminded me of one of those kid sitcoms on Disney Channel and Nickelodeon.
Finally, I laughed very little through the entire movie. The jokes seemed to suffer from bad timing. I would pass on this one.
