Quickie Review.

Really, if you're seeing The Goods, what are you looking for in a movie? The Goods definitely could have been better, given the talent involved, but it still has its share of funny moments. The plot is completely throwaway and goes to extremes once too often perhaps, but being in the spirit of Anchorman and Talladega Nights, what else would one expect?

Jeremy Piven is the embodiment of hyper-confidence, and brings that to the Don Ready character although is given perhaps slightly less material relative to screentime as his castmates. Ving Rhames has some absolutely hilarious moments (including a Dawson's Creek reference which should go down in history), as does Kathryn Hahn as a sidekick seeking the affection of a 10-year-old manchild. Brolin goes almost unexpectedly far over the top. Perhaps the funniest parts for me revolved around Craig Robinson as the worst DJ ever. On the other hand, Ed Helms is mostly wasted, as is Tony Hale (Buster from Arrested Development), and Will Ferrel's cameo did nothing for me.

Its far from a classic, but for what its worth, The Goods made me laugh. There's better movies out there for sure, and its far below the greatness that was Talladega Nights, but as a time-killer, theres worse out there for sure.
