Review of The Good Thief (2003) by Patrick M — 24 Jan 2005
Saw this movie and to be honest was more impressed by the moodie song...someyhing about a winning streak...movie was ok...yes it had all the right ingredients for a cultish classic, but to be honest it just does not live up to its undiluted start.
...as it progresses it just can`t work out what it wants to be ..and by the time the transexual...appears for apparently no better reason than they need to have some logical reason why he (sorry she) would be afraid of spiders and could`nt turn of the gas aH.
.ah You see what I mean...the film has no where to go so it starts to create its own story to get out of the fact that the undiluted start is now becoming more dilute than a score bag of smack...right up to the end, when, to give us all a good feeling he muffs the robbery but not to worry .
.he breaks the bank at roulette...no he does`nt he ends up broke goes back on the smack ..the young gal drops him like yesterdays laundry...now there is a movie worth seeing. Noltie is good if for no other reason that he actually smokes the cigarettes he lights.
..ain`t it getting like a movie to watch all those actors light fags and pretend to smoke...do they have smoking stand ins?
