Review of The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (1966) by Here Comes A D — 13 Oct 2012
In terms of scale and plot, this has to be one of the most memorable, well shot, and well scored Westerns of all time and one of Sergio's best directed. Despite the three hour length, the plot is pretty simple. Three men all looking for hidden treasure in the old west. I felt that Eastwood and Van Cleef's characters were put on the sideline for most of the film. This would be a bad thing, but we have the great Eli Wallach who single-handley steals and carries the film in perhaps one of the best performances in film history. Though it's not my favorite in the Dollars Trilogy, the classic status is well deserved.
Grade: A-.
