There is truly no question in my mind why this film is so revered in pop culture even today. Not only is it the most polished of Leone's "Dollars" trilogy, but it also firmly stands as its own movie.
If it wasn't named as part of the trilogy, you wouldn't really even know it was a second sequel because it isnt written like one. It is once again a brilliant new concept of three outlaws out to retrieve gold from an anonymous grave site during the Civil War.
The Civil War theme really does nothing but add to this masterpiece of a film, its not really a Civil War movie but the addition to the formula works. It is also one of the few films I have ever watched where the actors take their roles absolutely seriously.
You think they are actually living their given roles when you see them on the screen. An element that really every film deserves to have.
