Review of The Good Son (1993) by Rob S — 10 Nov 2009
I really don?t understand this poor rating The Good Son (1993) gets. It is easily Elijah Woods best role, granted he is only about 11, he is completely convincing as a scared innocent boy faced with an evil beyond everyone else?s comprehension.
The story is written so well that Macaulay Culkin can combine this character with the image everyone has from his career to give us chills when thinking of the possibilities that someone like this exists.
I enjoy movies about bad kids because I can relate, one of my neighbors while I was growing up was so evil that some of the things that he would do and say were so demented that by the age of 13 his life got completely out of control and after committing a violent crime he was institutionalized up to this day.
The internal drama Wood had with the grownups in this movie was not unlike the one that I developed from knowing my neighbor and this left me mesmerized when watching this movie.
