Review of The Good Shepherd (2006) by Meryl S — 25 Apr 2011
"The Good Shepherd"- Robert De Niro takes three hours to tell the story of Edward Bell Wilson (Matt Damon) working in the CIA during it's first 20 years of existence. Edward Wilson a determined man willing to sacrifice everything for his goals.
Married to Angelina Jolie's character Clover. There was a lot of stuff in this film and De Niro bounced around from idea to idea, it was entirely too long, and while I appreciate his attempt to tell a compelling drama, in 3 hours the characters never really develop, and the story went stale.
It's a decent film that needs to be reedited. I did leave the film thinking about it, but I also believe this story could have been told more fluently in a hour and a half.
