Review of The Good Shepherd (2006) by Rob D — 15 May 2009
Definitely one of the most boring movies I've ever seen. It's curious how such a star studded class, including Angelina Jolie could assemble into making such a lackluster film. The movie definitely has the right ingredients with a story about the CIA and set in World War 2, but there's no action or any kind of drama.
For awhile the stoic emotions of Matt Damon gets tiresome and there needs to be a point in the movie when there's a big turning point, but the movie never gets there. Yes, the life of a CIA agent takes its toll on the family, but the movie never deviates from it, so it gets too repetitive.
The cameos made by Pesci and Baldwin was a nice touch. Only someone with a deep rooted interest in the history of the CIA should consider watching it.
