Review of The Good Nurse (2022) by Jluis_001 — 30 Oct 2022
The Good Nurse posed a story with potential. It's morbid of course, but serial killers will always lend themselves to creating material for films, but how good they turn out to be will require a lot more elements, even larger than just the macabre nature of their crimes.
The Good Nurse is a film anchored by both Jessica Chastain and Eddie Redmayne, but its script in my opinion chose an approach that predominantly leaves everything up in the air.
The plot is more interested in Chastain's character and how she collaborated with the authorities to capture Redmayne's character, so he's pretty much left out of the picture. Yes you know what he was doing, but he basically just becomes the one dimensional villain that must be caught.
I have to tell you, if it weren't for its two big leading names, this film could have easily gotten lost on Lifetime and you wouldn't doubt that's where it belongs.
