Strong performances from the cast, especially from Freeman, are sadly not enough to lift the storyline above passable. The central idea is derivative of movies like Science of Sleep and Vanilla Sky (even down to casting Cruz), and while The Good Night isn't an exact copy, it doesn't really go anywhere new either and thus fails to satisfy.
