It's a sweet film that doesn't totally work, due to the fact that it feels pretty false. Although it features some wonderful performances and a pretty interesting plot, The Good Lie feels too pretty for a real story.
It all gets wrapped up a little too neatly for me, but that doesn't keep the film from succeeding where it can. Witherspoon is pretty wonderful and all of "The Lost Boys" are perfect in their roles.
The script feels a little "too Hollywood" at times, but that just means it will have mass appeal. It's definitely not bad, and many people will find it more enjoyable than I did.
