Review of The Good Girl (2002) by David S — 09 May 2009
Jennifer Aniston plays an unhappy wife who lives a dreary and unfullfilling life on the make up counter of a discount store. That is until she meets an exually depressed new check out boy (Jake Gyllenhaal) who is obsessed with the novel The Catcher in the Rye.
They embark on an affair, though it all looks likely to end in tears. Aniston does well trying to break out of her usual cheery comedy roles here and for the most part this is a sometimes bleak though well acted character drama with great support from John C Reilly and Zooey Deschanel.
