Review of The Good Girl (2002) by Joe W — 22 Sep 2012
We all feel angry at the world and just hate everyone at times. That's what Justine feels in this film and we completely agree with her. Everytime I feel angry at the world, I watch this film and feel better.
Jennifer's great in this film and it's nice to see her not play Rachel Green for once. I bet she's proud of this performance too. I like to see Jennifer do another non-Rachel Green role, maybe as a villainess.
Another performance I like is Zooey Deschanel's. She has a small part but she plays a character completely different from her usual romantic leads. In this one, she plays a carefree troublemaker who's actually not that bad of a person once we get to know her.
Jake Gyllenhaal's great as the mentally disturbed lover. When you think about it, he could've become the villain if his mental illness was worse.
Mike White's script is great filled with realistic dialogue. He's must be proud of this film. Out of all the movies he's written, this is my favourite.
A one-of-a-kind performance from Jennifer and I hope she can play another non-Rachel Green character again. But what I really like to see is Jennifer not do a comedy for once. Maybe a fantasy film or a thriller.
