Review of The Good German (2006) by Will M — 19 Mar 2008
An interesting film that recaptures the style and themes of post-war Noir, the film plays as a mash between classics like Casablanca and The Third Man and unfortunately the story never steers into uncharted territory.
The performances are good aside from Tobey Maguire who doesnt really convince as a street-smart and voilent bootlegger soldier. The overall style and competancy of the plot keep you interested in seeing it through to the end.
