Review of The Good Doctor (2011) by John S — 23 Apr 2011
Orlando Bloom is deftly cast as an introverted doctor in desperate need of some love and respect. Bloom demonstrates his ability to completely carry a full length feature film and this movie could well be the start of Blooms ascendance to Hollywood's "leading man" A list.
Director Lance Daly blends some wickedly dark comedy into a riveting psychological thriller that is as entertaining as it is disturbing. Daly also ignores conventional wisdom by refusing to wrap up the story with lashings of bromide redemption. As a result, the final act and climax is pleasantly surprising and strangely satisfying.
"Have you ever done something that you know is wrong, but you still do it anyway?".
