Review of The Good Dinosaur (2015) by Jose C — 13 May 2016
Visually stunning and primally engaging but surprisingly flat, "The Good Dinosaur" is competent and even ambitious at points with its interesting Western genre blending, but the narrative hits very predictable beats in a rather mediocre fashion.
Good, but forgettable. Also, Arlo the dinosaur far outpaces the human Spot in terms of development and viewer attachment, making the central relationship unbalanced. Glimmers of a better central relationship are there, with the wandering T-Rex ranchers, but the film's focus feels misplaced.
