The worst book adaptation I have ever seen, and it's not like I'm a super-fan of the books either (although I like them). (1) The anti-religion message is completely gutted, (2) the ending and almost anything else unpleasant was completely wiped clean, and (3) the movie gives its audience absolutely no credit whatsoever.
