Review of The Golden Compass (2007) by Karl.. 1 — 26 Jan 2011
I just saw this movie yesterday with my sister and mother on its opening night. I can't fully say how true it is to the book, saying as I've only read the beginning part of it without even remembering a single thing about it (except for the words "damon" and "dust"). It was creepy enough for me to enjoy its anti-organised religion outlooks, even if the Catholics automatically assume that means the story's atheist. Still, controversial movies I've always liked anyway.
They're probably going to turn the next two books into films, because they clearly showed that the story wasn't over at the end. Unless they don't get any royalties, which I doubt, owing to its controversy.
