Review of The Golden Compass (2007) by Daniel W — 04 Dec 2011

The Golden Compass is over edited and lacking epicness. Although I haven't read the books, there's a definite sense that they've compressed the story too tightly and squeezed out much of the parts that bind the narrative together.

This is one of the few films that could've done with being longer (and in hindsight they should probably have given the movie an ending since it bombed at the box office and is unlikely to find funding for furthering the franchise).

Kate Bush was a nice surprise though.
