Review of The Golden Compass (2007) by Daniel H — 04 Feb 2012

This was a huge disapointment for me. Given the material they had to work with, how did Weitz make such a pigs ear of things? The writing is terrible and segments of the story are all in the wrong place, making the story seem incomplete and rigid.

The end is an absolute travesty and feels cheesy. The acting is as good as you'd expect from the star names, considering the writing they have to work with. It is mildly entertaining, but just feels like a waste considering what could have been.
