(2007) The Golden Compass.

FANTASY/ CHILDREN.

Based on the popular children's book of the same name written by Philip Pullman centering on the last compass called the 'alethiometer' a device which could find distinctive answers if used properly, taken care of by a precautious 13 year old girl named Lyra (Dakota Blue Richards), using it to go through her adventures with of course other decieptive people soughting for the last compass as well particularly Marissa played by Nicole Kidman. Written and directed by Chris Weitz.

Out of many films, this one always puts me to sleep, and has finally able to finish it through just a few days ago trying to fully grasp what is that makes this film extremely boring. The main one for me is the pronounciation of the word "Daemon" but is really pronounced "Demon", the "a" being silent- not "Day mon" or some other, that is supposed to be a good thing which is like having any kind of animal standing side alongside with any human and is supposed to be a positive thing, but to any sane viewer the word "demon" or even close to it can be very distracting, particularly to Christians or to anybody who consist of a religious background. The other thing I don't quite understand is the chosen animal, I have no idea how each different animal is chosen to stay alongside each person, how is it defined that one person is chosen to have leemur as opposed to another person having a cougar, for instance, and how come some are bad as opposed to some who aren't.

2 out of 4.
