Maybe it's not the best fantasy idea out there, but some of it, like the notion of dust and the connection to animal souls, is quite intriguing. Also Weitz did a nice job capturing a good look and the cast is also quite good.
While other areas may fall short, it is disappointing that its sequels will not likely get made.
