Review of The Golden Compass (2007) by Anthony P — 08 Dec 2012
Very beautiful, but extremely disappointing. The book is a classic and mind blowing fantastic and the film does in no way live up to that. Also, if we lock at it without taking the book into the account, then the film is full of plot holes and an inconsistent story which you can only really understand if you have already read the book.
Also it removes all the nuances, all the controversial politics and religion criticism of the book and reduces it to some mainstream black/white Disney fairytale. One of the most anticipated and most disappointing films I have ever seen.
