Review of The Golden Compass (2007) by Frances H — 19 Dec 2012

I saw this movie before I read the trilogy of books by Pullman, and even then I knew something was sadly lacking--the script just doesn't do justice to the world Pullman created and the characters lack the intensity they had in the books, although the actors are good and do as well as they can with what they've been given.

The look of the film is good--it just lacks soul, and comes off flat.
