Despite some really good and flashy visual effects , the adaption not only strays miles from the original book but also lacks the screenplay depth of the story being shown on screen . New Line Cinema was bent on producing another "Lord Of The Rings" forgetting all fantasy movies are not the same.

Chris Weitz weak piece of story telling tied with the studio pressure almost marred the film so much so that even the great cast involing Daniel Craig , Nicole Kidman and Ian Mckellen could not come to the rescue.
