They changed so much about the book, and some for no apparent good reason. Why change Iofur Raknison's name?? How did the Samoyeds take Lyra to Svalbard, across the OCEAN after they kidnapped her?? There was a reason they were supposed to take her to Bolvangar, and then Lee Scoresby was supposed to take her to Svalbard in his balloon.

And apparently on the way back, a small bridge is enough to cross the entire ocean. Too many holes, too many changes. Excellent actors, but terrible script. I loved the books - too bad this movie is crap.
