Review of The Gold Rush (1925) by Andrew S — 03 Jun 2007
Chaplin redefined film as an art form and The Gold Rush is a prime example of that.
This is a film that has seen tips of the hat in all sorts of movies and television shows.
The Tramp, Chaplin's typical lovable character, has come to Alaska to seek his fortune during the Alaskan Gold Rush.
Set amidst lavish scenes, Chaplin works the nonchalant clumsy magic for which The Tramp is known.
A must-see classic. Be sure to watch the silent version first.
