Review of The Gold Rush (1925) by Michael H — 19 Oct 2007
I just saw this for the first time. Very Iconic movie though. I had seen certain scenes a million times before; like the eating of the shoes and the house tipping over the edge of the mountain, but I was really amazed by this movie and with Chaplin in particular.
He was a true genius. What a beautiful story, and what a heartbreaking character he invented to tell it. His Tramp was a gentle spirit, and as an artist he used all the magic of cinema to make his character come out on top in the face of a barren, cruel, and ugly world.
