Review of The Gold Rush (1925) by Aren B — 30 Jan 2009
There's something infinitely charming about Charlie Chaplin's silent films. His character of The Tramp is so innocent, so clumsy and so lovable, very much unlike the real Charlie Chaplin, that he's a real pleasure to watch.
His films convey such incredible innocence and whimsy. His 1925 film, "The Gold Rush", is full of many great moments, from the shack teetering on the edge of the cliff to the Table Ballet to the tragicomic romance.
Both hilarious and moving, "The Gold Rush" is a staple of filmmaking to be enjoyed by all.
