Review of The Godfather Part III (1990) by Brad S — 07 Aug 2011
If one can ever forget that this is the final chapter of the "Godfather" trilogy , this is not a bad final chapter. It is a bit of an high and low for all of the departments specially as far the imagery and the writing is concerned.
Al Pacino probably has lost his magical acting mojo and delivers some highs ocassionally but also the movie suffers from a lot of repetitions , images from the first film , music from the first film :something that a normal moviegoer won't be able to connect.
The same goes for the writing . The setup takes up a lot of figuring out what's going on even as 30 minutes of the film is over and done with and a large number of characters who all seem uninteresting.
The editing of the film along with the director's ability to tell a gripping story is again inconsistent and it basically sums up the entire picture actually. Francis Ford Coppola's "The Godfather III" is in one word "INCONSISTENT".
