Review of The Godfather Part III (1990) by Parker S — 02 Jul 2012
Where have you forsaken me part 3? The great atmosphere of danger in the first two parts is gone, replaced with a bubbly, happy tone that seems to go against the overall tone of the first two movies. Micheal is no longer the brooding man and is now a lively grandpa who've lost all his demons.
The other characters are actually somewhat annoying and uninteresting, with side story lines that are unneeded and dumb. Its not all bad though, the ending satisfies you and is actually extremely emotional and powerful.
I guess it succeeded in me not wanting to have another Godfather. Its not horrible, and would actually be a pretty good movie on its own,and the story is occasionally as great as it's bigger brothers, but befitting the Godfather name, the third part more of a disappointment than a triumph.
I wish the attention to detail that made the first two great was in part III, but it isn't, and that makes me sad.
