Review of The Godfather Part III (1990) by Emily F — 19 Apr 2014
This film has copped a severe thrashing from some critics and people who've enjoyed this franchise, mainly due to the more outlandish plot and the director's daughter's (Sofia Coppola) performance being rather wooden and unbelievable.
Neither of those concerns bothered me, as this film was actually well-acted (especially with some of the actors filling in the roles of original characters intended to appear in this film), reasonably paced, and directed carefully.
If one can notice carefully, Part III is following the first movie's footsteps (SPOILER ALERT), with the main character who is the Don (in this movie's case, Al Pacino as Michael Corleone) intending to retire for the safety of his family.
It certainly won't reach the bar the latter two movies have set, but it's definitely worth watching, no matter what you think of this movie.
