Review of The Godfather Part III (1990) by Pock P — 29 Jul 2011
The thing that lingers in my mind all through the movie was "WHY SOPHIA COPPOLA???" I think the story is not bad at all...many interesting and engaging aspects but the script (esp. some important dialogues) and the direction this time is not as polished and engaging as in the previous film.
..if you want the audience to believe such deviation in character's action, you do need a more detailed and convincing script. And then there is Sophia Coppola. It's undeniable that her lines are shitty but that coupled with her negative screen presence makes her character almost painful to watch.
It needs a much more experienced and charismatic actress to pull such a flimsy character off. And the toll is on the movie itself coz her love story with Vincent which should serve as another dramatic backbone to the story feels so dry, forced and wrong that we almost root for them to be apart while we should feel otherwise.
All in all, a good, entertaining movie that should definitely be watched.
