Review of The Godfather Part II (1974) by Brian F — 27 Dec 2012
Many would argue the sequel surpasses it's predecessor. I'm not one of them, but it does do an amazing job of not being a disappointment coming off one of the greatest films of all-time, and indeed holds its own in that company.
Although nobody has a performance quite on the level that Marlon Brando delivered in the first, Al Pacino, Robert Duvall, and Robert De Niro all give it their best shot, and come close. An intimate portrait of two men, and of their family as it rose and fell, darker and more meditative than the first film.
A must watch.
