The godfather was a masterpiece and this sequel is not just surpasses the first but can stand on its own as an crowning achievement in cinematic history as one of the greatest films in the history of cinema.
It's rare when a sequel can surpassed the original but I believe this raised the bar in cinema which influenced many movies to top this but only a few have.
