Review of The Godfather (1972) by Shane B — 09 Jan 2015
Powerful performances, excellent characters, beautiful filmmaking, there's a reason why The Godfather is as well regarded as it is. It is a crime drama, but it's much more than that. It's a chronicle of this family's rule in the mafia.
The roads it takes with its characters, particularly Michael Corleone (played brilliantly by Al Pacino), and the way the story progresses really engages you, and for a 3 hour long movie, nothing feels forced, nothing feels like it needs to be removed.
This is an absolutely perfect movie only slightly shadowed by its sequel.
