Review of The Glimmer Man (1996) by Mark P — 06 Jan 2008
Steven Seagal is... Jack Cole.
It's a bit of a hybrid this one, part dark serial killer movie with a nod to the likes of Manhunter and Seven (though nowhere near as good as either) but mostly your run-of-the-mill budy cop action movie, with plenty of shoot-outs and ass-whuppin's courtesy of our man, Steve. There's also the obligatory exploding cars and even the most flammable television set ever, that manages to blow up an apartment when it gets knocked over in a fight - sheesh, American build quality eh? It's not what it used to be...
In all honesty, this is a watchable hour and half but it's not going to change your world and if you're not a Seagal fan by now, you're unlikely to be swayed by this effort. Perhaps a two and a half to two and three quarter star movie if I'm honest, but I'm gonna give it three for a good deer penis sucking joke and some truly outlandish attire that's sported by Mr Seagal.
FSBCR: 5/5 - three (count 'em!) highly decorative jackets - fantastic!
