Review of The Glimmer Man (1996) by Matt R — 14 Jul 2009
The Glimmer Man loses any seriousness when Seagal's character, a supposed Buddhist who hates violence, whips out a credit card equipped with a razor edge to cut throats and kill everyone on the set (except for Keenan Ivory Wayans, and maybe he shouldn't have stopped there).
The story is completely unoriginal, and there are too many plot twists for its own good (they're not confusing to keep straight, they're just unnecessary for the most part). It's not the worst of Seagal's movies by far.
It's watchable if you like unintentionally hilarious action movies (of which Seagal is a master), and some of the action scenes are fun to watch. And hey, someone actually draws blood from Seagal!! Other than shooting him, that's usually unheard of in any of his movies.
Of course, he acts like it's nothing, but at least he allows a little sense of realism (tiny though it may be) into one of his movies.
