After all the vampire BS that dragged teens to lunacy, now there's a different trend, dystopian chick flicks such as hunger games. divergent and whatnot. The Giver enters the same genre of dystopian madness for teens, however the book came earlier than any of the popular movies mentioned.
And I have to say, I enjoyed it very well. It comes with a very powerful premise, that captures you until the end. Humans with no emotions, acting like robots is something new to me. It's quite different and refreshing from any of the other dystopian movies.
However there's something missing. I can't put my finger on it. Maybe a precision of language? LOL. Or maybe the lack of resolution in the ending or my hunger for a next movie.
