It's too bad that The Giver was pushed to a film adaptation amidst this storm of other dystopian YA movies. It's a special, enduring story that deserves more cinematic ingenuity than it's been given.
Bland when it should be invigorating, this adaptation succumbs to the "sameness" of its post-apocalyptic peers.
