The Giver started, and then it ended, and I didn't care about anything that was happening. It's a real shame, because the book by Lois Lowry is amazing, and it brings with it a ton of philosophical questions about the nature of the human being.

The film, with its straight-forward narration for fools, does not leave any room for deep thinking. The biggest thing that bothered me was the marketing of the movie. No, this is not the stereotypical YA dystopian book, in fact, it is not a young adult book, that's why the casting is terrible.

In the book, Jonas is 12 years old, and in the movie he was played by 24-year old Brandon Thwaites. WHY???? Oh yeah, because it was marketed toward the young adult audience that are so into dystopian stories.

The Giver can't represent better Hollywood's money-thirst trashy movies. It makes me so angry.
