Porn star Sasha Grey surprises with an impressive performance in this minimalist experimental film from Steven Soderbergh. The visuals, especially low-budget as they are, remain warm and inviting throughout, but the film is directionless for much of its run-time, and fails to cohere into a psychologically or emotionally meaningful whole.
The political subtext also seems ham-fisted and pointless.
