Review of The Girlfriend Experience (2009) by Kevork O — 27 May 2010
True to form, Soderbergh provides a cold, voyeuristic insight into the world of high-class prostitution, using a porn-star - Sasha Grey - as his leading lady. There is an element of emotional detachment that can either be seen as a parallel to the emotional detachment of the lead character (which would be quite ingenious on Soderbergh's part), or as an unintended flaw in the film.
Either way, the film is at times confusingly structured, and that does take away some of its potential power.
