Review of The Girlfriend Experience (2009) by Alex B — 24 Oct 2010
An outstanding examination of (contemporary--set during the Obama-McCain presidential election, near the official start of the recent capitalist crisis) life under late capitalism, of capitalist "relationships"/exchange(s), of the capitalist commodification of lifestyle, love, and the human body, centered on a couple of capitalist personal servants/hangers-on.
Slyly amusing, brilliantly combining amateurish acting and super-slick production, appropriately not at all erotic, and with a perfect ending (perhaps its only notable flaw being the painting, as if fine art objects weren't also commodities under capitalism).
Watch it with Pretty Woman (obviously).
