It is a bit long and quite violent and hard to watch at times, but The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo has excellent cinematography, stylized visuals, terrific ending, interesting plot and great plot twists.
But what takes this film to the next level is a particularly powerful performance from Rooney Mara and an unusually strong characterization. In the end, in spite of its extreme graphic violence, this film is powerful and it is hard not to appreciate it.
