Review of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2011) by Matthew H — 11 Nov 2012
The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo is a taut, gripping thriller. At times, shocking but never dull, David Fincher has crafted a superb adaptation of Stieg Larsson's novel. The movie is carried in the safe hands of Daniel Craig, as the disgraced journalist at the heart of the tale. Craig, who is quickly proving himself to be England's finest actor in years is brilliant but it's Rooney Mara who stands out as Lisbeth Salander, the girl with the dragon tattoo. Mara plays a character who is almost completely shrouded in mystery but nevertheless, her chemistry with Craig is strong and between them, the film is a joy to watch.
David Fincher is no stranger to directorial success and he once again produces a very well made picture. It would be great to see Fincher, Craig and Mara return in both the second and third installments of the trilogy as this could end up something very special indeed.
