Review of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2011) by Fredrick R — 07 Dec 2012
It's hard for me to rate this movie after seeing the Swedish original. If I had seen this Anglo remake first I would have given it high marks. It's more stylish, higher production values, better music, and prettier actors. It's not shot for shot, but it's so faithful to the original.
Fincher doesn't change much, keeping it in Sweden, using mostly a European cast, and everyone has an accent. I'm not saying the remake was pointless (like the shot for shot remake of psycho) but what did Fincher add to the narrative?
