Review of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2011) by Scott F — 18 Apr 2013
First off, I'm a huge fan of the book and I will say that I liked the book more but on the whole, this is a great adaption to it. Mikel Blomkivist (Daniel Craig in his best performance) is journalist who is working for Henrik Vangar (Christopher Plummer) to solve the mystery of 16 year old Harriet Vangar's sudden death.
Along the way, he is aided by computer hacker Lisbeth Salander (the excellent Rooney Mara.) Now, I just saw this with my mom so it made the sex/ rape scene's that much more awkward. (Note: don't see this with an older parent/ guardian.
It can make things awkward.) Stellan Skarsgard plays a creepy/ elegant Martin Vangar and Mara delivers a knockout performance as Lisbeth. Beautifully shot with a tight script and an ending that will surprise even those who have read and loved the book.
Highly recommend though the book is better.
